Previously unemployed youth are hired to work in creches, preschools, and primary schools, teaching children to read, write, and count, and earning their first income in the process.

Top Learner, now a literacy coach
Meet Hazel.
Hazel was one of our Top Learners in high school, among the brightest in her class. But as a refugee from Zimbabwe, she had no way to pay for university, and the path simply ended. So we hired her into the programme. Without this job, she would be sitting at home.

Local youth are trained and placed as coaches in their own schools, running one-on-two literacy sessions with the children around them.

Every coach was previously unemployed. A steady, purposeful income lets them improve their own lives and lift their families.
Training and experience
The job breaks the experience barrier. Many use it as a stepping stone into full-time work, or study at night on our scholarship fund.
Becoming leaders
There is extraordinary talent in these communities; it just needs the opportunity. Our coaches grow into leaders of their schools.
